Individual licenses and firewall features
You can also subscribe to individual licenses. The licenses deliver the following features:
- Base License: Stateful Firewall, VPN, Wireless.
- Network Protection: Intrusion Prevention (IPS), Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), SD-RED Device Management.
- Web Protection: Web Security and Control, Application Control, Web Malware Protection.
- Zero-day protection: Machine Learning, Sandboxing File Analysis, Threat Intelligence.
- Central Orchestration: SD-WAN VPN Orchestration, CFR Advanced.
- Email Protection: Anti-spam, Antivirus, DLP, Encryption, Email Malware Protection.
- Webserver Protection: Web Application Firewall.
Overview of the SFOS licensing model
SFOS includes a Base License which is required for all hardware and virtual firewalls and is perpetual. Additional features can be purchased as subscriptions with terms ranging from one to five years, depending on the product. Irregular terms greater than one year are also possible. The subscriptions can be purchased individually or as bundles. Some of the bundles include hardware or virtual appliance, which includes the perpetual Base License, and other bundles contain subscriptions only.
Upon the launch of the XGS Series hardware appliances in late April 2021, we introduced a new simplified licensing scheme. Existing customers with XG Series hardware or the software/virtual appliances running SFOS were migrated to the new licensing scheme in August 2021. SG Series hardware customers who had previously switched to SFOS were also migrated.

Note:
- Central Orchestration requires SFOS 18.5 MR1 or later.
- Zero-Day Protection was formerly known as Sandstorm Protection.
There are two levels of support, Enhanced and Enhanced Plus. The higher level of support provides direct access to senior Sophos Support staff and also provides a warranty for some connected Sophos appliances. If you buy any of the bundles, then the bundle includes Enhanced Support, and you can add a higher level of support by purchasing the Enhanced to Enhanced Plus Support Upgrade product.
